In Summer 2019, I returned to Southwest Airlines to work as a graphic design intern in their Creative Studio. I learned to work within a well-established brand, creating pieces for internal and external audiences that would convey information beautifully and effectively.
One of my primary responsibilities over the course of the summer was learning the guidelines for the unlaunched rebrand of Southwest Business and transitioning various pieces of collateral from the old brand to the new brand. This brand flip had to be completed for several different types of materials, from pop-up banners to powerpoints to invitations, and under a tight deadline, as the new materials had to be rolled out at various conferences over the course of the summer.
Southwest produces a magazine for all of its employees both at HDQ in Dallas and remotely at their airport stations. I designed two spreads for this magazine.
One of my primary responsibilities was compiling information in digital signage. These files were circulated both at HDQ and in stations across the country.
Another big part of my summer involved working within the Southwest brand to create various pieces of informative collateral and advertisements for internal and external audiences.
As an intern, I also worked on miscellaneous projects as they emerged: creating postcards to be sent to all system pilots, helping the team design holiday t-shirts for SWA The Store, and working on iconography for SWA digital portals.
